Diagnostic Assessment & Clinical Roadmap

The DCAR™.
The only K–12 math diagnostic

that traces backward.

Every other program tells you your child is weak in algebra. The DCAR tells you which specific skill from three grade levels ago broke down and is blocking everything since.

What the DCAR™ is

Not a test. Not a placement.
A clinical trace of what broke and when.

Most diagnostic tools ask your child to solve problems at their current grade level and report back a score. A score does not tell you what to fix. It tells you what you already knew.

The DCAR traces backward through the prerequisite skill chain. If your child is failing Grade 8 algebra, the DCAR does not just confirm that. It asks: which specific skill from Grade 6 or Grade 5 or Grade 4 was never fully consolidated? It finds the root, not the branch.

The result is a clinical roadmap. Not a worksheet. Not a placement level. A named gap, a sequence, and a starting point.

How it works

Three steps.
One clinical picture.

1
Your child answers the questions.

Adaptive questions delivered through the portal. 10 for the Mini-DCAR, 21 for the Full DCAR, 80 across sessions for the Comprehensive. No time pressure. No test anxiety. Just honest answers.

2
The engine traces backward.

BrightPath's diagnostic engine maps each answer against the K–12 prerequisite graph. It identifies where understanding consolidated correctly and where it did not. The root cause, not the surface symptom.

3
You receive a clinical report.

Delivered to your portal within 24 hours. Written in your home language. Named gaps, a repair sequence, and a timeline. Plus a separate teacher-facing report in English you can send with one click.

What the report contains

A 10–12 page clinical document.
In your home language.

The Full DCAR report is not a summary. It is a clinical document written for a parent who deserves a real answer.

🔍
Named prerequisite gaps
Every gap identified by specific skill name, grade level of origin, and severity. Not 'weak in fractions.' Equivalent fractions from Grade 4, consolidation failure.
🗺️
Repair sequence
The exact order to address each gap. Which skill must be repaired before the next can be introduced. Sequence matters in math. The report reflects that.
📅
Timeline
Realistic week-by-week estimate for each gap based on severity and your child's current pace. Not vague. Specific.
🏫
Teacher report
A separate 2-page school-format document for your child's teacher. Written in English. Professional language. One click to send from your portal.
🎧
Parent audio guide
A 5-8 minute audio recording walking you through the key findings in plain language. In your home language. For the parent who wants to understand, not just receive.
📋
IEP alignment (Comprehensive only)
For families with IEP students, the Comprehensive DCAR maps findings to existing IEP goals and identifies where the diagnostic findings should inform the next IEP meeting.

Questions

What families ask
before they start.

How long does it take?
The Mini-DCAR takes about 10 minutes. The Full DCAR takes 20-30 minutes and can be completed in one sitting or split across two sessions. The Comprehensive DCAR is delivered across multiple sessions over several days.
What age or grade is it for?
The DCAR covers K–12. The questions adapt based on your child's grade level and responses. Whether your child is in 2nd grade or 11th grade, the diagnostic traces back to the correct prerequisite level.
How is this different from a school assessment?
School assessments measure what your child knows at grade level and report a score. The DCAR traces backward through prerequisite skills to find where understanding broke down. It finds the root cause. School assessments confirm the symptom.
What if my child has an IEP?
The Full DCAR works for IEP students. For families who want IEP goal alignment and a more detailed prerequisite map, the Comprehensive DCAR is designed specifically for that. TiB IEP™ subscription includes ongoing Comprehensive DCAR recalibration.
Is the $69 credited if we subscribe?
Yes. If you complete the Full DCAR and subscribe to any TiB™ plan within 30 days, the $69 is credited toward your registration. You pay $30 for the registration fee and the DCAR cost is absorbed.
What language is the report in?
You choose at registration: English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, French, or Portuguese. The full clinical report, parent audio guide, and coaching notes are all delivered in your chosen language. The teacher report is always in English.
